Abstract

The aim of this study was to study the relationship between trait and state anxiety with force control and adjustment of dominant hand’s angle in male athlete and non-athlete students. For this purpose, 200 students (100 athletes and 100 non-athletes) where randomly selected among all male bachelor students of Arak University in the academic year 2012-2013 by simple random method. The mean age of subjects was 21.80±1.96. The required data were collected using personal information questionnaire, Spielberger state-trait anxiety inventory (STAI), Zhukovski’s dominant hand’s angle accommodation test, and Ablacova’s force control of dominant hand test. The findings showed that there is a strong and positive correlation between trait and state anxiety and kinesthesia in both of the groups. There results also showed that kinesthesia error can predict the trait anxiety (p=0.041) and state anxiety (p=0.011). Study findings indicated that there is a significant relationship between trait and state anxiety and kinesthesia. In addition, non-athletes showed higher levels of anxiety and hallucination. According to the moderate levels of state anxiety in athletes, it can be stated that this study supports the inverted U hypothesis.

Abstract

Objectives. The purpose of this study was the importance of applying Kinesio tape (KT) in relieving the pain in athletes' ankles using Y balance test and star.

Methods. 22 male athletes with average age of 22.33±1.37 were discussed with and without Kinesio tape. At first athletes didn’t use kinesiology tape on their deltoid ligament and did the (Y) balance test in 3 directions, then star twirling test (SEBT) in 8 directions that focused on the center of one plexus. These tests were repeated 3 times and all the stages of them were recovered after 24 hours and then the tests done on a pad and on a solid surface.

Results. Athletes in both tests on a soft pad experienced a high pressure on their muscles according to the position of their leg in plantar and dorsiflexion state;and they couldn’t finish the test.

Conclusion. The test showed that the Kinesio tape on a soft surface (pad) did have any positive effects on the muscles.

Abstract

Background. Knowledge today is a strategic factor in achieving a sustainable competitive advantage for power in an organization, but merely having knowledge only as an asset does not create value. The sharing and dissemination of knowledge with other members within and outside the organization will provide a space for the creation of new and valuable knowledge assets. Objectives. The aim of this study was to identify and prioritize factors affecting knowledge sharing and dissemination in Iran's ministry of youth and sports. Methods. This study employed the qualitative research method. The study population included all managers, advisers, and experts of the ministry and faculty members informed in the field of knowledge management within the ministry. In the first stage, purposive sampling based on theoretical l approach and 19 semi-structured interviews were conducted. Using coding method seven main factors were detected by MAXQDA software. The next step was to prioritize and interpretive structural modeling and the opinion of eight experts and academic professors was used. Results. After analyzing the data, factors affecting knowledge sharing were put into 5 levels. Leadership factors were placed at the bottom of the model and the individual factors placed at the highest level. Conclusion. The insight that this model offers can help in the success and effectiveness of KM activities in this ministry.

Abstract

Background. Considering the position and importance of sports federations in Iran and their very important duties and dependence on the Ministry of Sports and Youth in terms of financial resources, they must be responsive to their performance in providing services and implementing their programs. The duties are namely the development and promotion of sports at the public and championship levels, coordination of competitions at the local and national levels, selection of athletes, and training and development of national teams for participation in the international fields. Therefore, there is a growing need for a practical framework to improve the performance of sports federations.
Objectives. The purpose of this study was to present an executive model for improving the performances of sports federations.
Methods. Considering the qualitative and exploratory nature of the subject, the grounded theory was applied as a qualitative research method using the Glaser model. First, a preliminary list of effective factors was identified through primary studies. It was followed by semi-structured interviews conducted with 25 elites who were aware of the subject of the study.
Results. The open coding results denoted that 83 indicators could improve the performances of the Iranian sports federations. At the axial coding stage, the indicators were classified into 19 concepts. Finally, the five categories of “management and leadership,” “resources,” “specific performance of federation,” “information and communication,” and “education and research affairs” were identified through selective coding.
Conclusion. “Discovering and Growing the Talents”, Legal and Ethical Issues”, Interaction and collaboration with other organizations and institutions”, Training and Promotion human resources including coaches and referees” and “Organizing National Teams” are concepts that improve the performance of sports federations, and managers should pay attention to them.

Abstract

Background. Several studies have been conducted on the valuation of the intangible assets of organizations not relating to sport. However, there is no comprehensive study in the sport organizations especially in Iran. It is not clear what criteria are required at different levels by the sport organizations especially volleyball clubs to evaluate their intangible assets.
Objectives. In spite of the increasing importance of the intangible assets in various industries, little has been done on the identification of the underlying factors and valuation of this category of assets in sport industry. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to design an economic valuation model of the intangible assets of the volleyball clubs in Iran.
Methods. The sample of the present study in the qualitative section consisted of 47 subjects with 600 subjects participating in the quantitative section. Through application of Cochran formula, the sample size was estimated to be 234 subjects. The study was conducted in a survey method. To this end, first, the intangible assets of the Iranian volleyball clubs were identified using a qualitative method and then analyzed through structural equation modeling (SEM) PLS3 and SPSS22.
Results. The factors with the greatest effects on economic valuation of intangible assets of Iranian volleyball clubs were communication capital, spiritual capital, structural capital and human capital. Thus, it was found that in the economic valuation of intangible assets of Iranian volleyball clubs, the indices such as the relationship between investors and partners and their loyalty in communication capital had the highest value among other indices. Further, the club history and success had the same status in promoting spiritual capital, governing culture of the club, development outlook document of the club in the structural capital, management of contracts, and the number of national players in the club in human capital.
Conclusion. The results of the present study suggested that the proposed conceptual model can be applied by researchers, administrative and financial managers of volleyball clubs and the experts of the privatization organization to have a more comprehensive and precise evaluation of the valuation of intangible assets of a club.

Objectives. This study aimed to investigate the pathology of human resource management in Iran’s Ministry of Sports and Youth.
Methods. This study employed a mixed explorative (qualitative and quantitative) approach. The population in the qualitative part included two groups: the first group was the strategic committee that held with eight specialists; the second group included 23 participants selected through purposive sampling. Qualitative data collection to determine weaknesses, strengths, opportunities, and threats were fulfilled by studying documents and Semi-structured interviews. In the quantitative part, the population included 62 of all managers in the ministry of sports and youth (assistant directors, general managers, the chief of offices, advisors, as well as experts of the department of sports and youth in the human resource section). There were completed and analyzed 46 researcher-made closed questionnaires. In this study, qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis of high-level documents for extracting mission statements; critical factors of the scope statement, pivotal values, critical factors of performance and finally, for identifying S, W, O and T. Also, quantitative data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, middle and criterion deviation and perspective statistics and binomial tests.
Results. In a qualitative study after analyzing the collected data 4 strengths, 51 weaknesses, 5 opportunities, and 7 threats of the Ministry were identified. In a quantitative study, the results showed all systems and processes of human resource management in Iran’s Ministry of Sports and Youth should be renewed and modified based on scientific methods.
Conclusion. In general, the result of this paper showed human resource management in Iran’s Ministry of Sports and Youth is at WO situation. Therefore the mentioned organization should apply a conservative strategy to develop human resource management. Moreover, it showed that all five systems identified in the research (including Planning and supplying, Compensation and maintenance, Development of HR, Employee and labor relation, Leadership and organizational culture) should be renewed.
